The Ultimate Quilted Jacket Workshop
Ready to create the "it-piece" of the season? Join me for a specialized sewing intensive where we turn cozy layers into wearable art! Whether you want to repurpose a vintage heirloom quilt or learn how to quilt your own fabric from scratch, this class is for you! This is an Intermediate level workshop. We’ll be diving into the construction of a beautiful, boxy-fit quilted jacket. This project is a fantastic way to master bias binding, bulky seams, and garment structure. Supply fee: $20.
Pre-requisite: Student must have knowledge in sewing and quilting.
Supply List:
1. The "Quilt" Layer
Option A: A pre-made quilt (vintage or new king size) that you are ready to cut into!
Option B: Your own "quilt sandwhich"—pre-quilted fabric or exterior fabric, batting, and lining that you have quilted together before class.
2. The Binding
Double Fold Bias Tape: 8–10 yards (matching or contrasting!) to finish all those beautiful raw edges.
3. Tools for Success: Sewing Machine in good working order. Power cord and foot pedal.
Walking Foot: Highly recommended! This is essential for sewing through thick layers evenly. Also bring a 1/4 inch foot and a universal foot.
Needles and Thread: Denim or Topstitching needles (90/14 or 100/16). Coordinated color thread, cotton / polyester matching heavy-duty thread.
Basic Sewing Kit: Large fabric shears, plenty of clips (easier than pins for quilts!), and matching heavy-duty thread.
