Contract Bridge, Part III
Take bridge skills to the next level in this Part III course designed for experienced players who are ready to expand their understanding of modern bidding strategies and game analysis. Participants will explore concepts that build upon traditional bridge knowledge while gaining confidence with techniques used in today's Standard American bidding system. The instructor will compare the classic Goren bidding system with Standard American bidding and examine how hand shape, suit distribution, and probability influence opening bids and competitive decisions. Students will gain a deeper appreciation for the mathematical principles that support successful bidding and play.
Topics include Roman Key Card Blackwood, the Rule of 20, the Law of Total Tricks, the Feature Ask Convention, and effective use of No Trump contracts, along with strategies for evaluating balanced and unbalanced hands. Real-world bidding examples and practical applications will reinforce each concept. This course is intended for knowledgeable bridge players who are comfortable with the fundamentals of Contract Bridge and are ready to refine their bidding judgment, strengthen partnership communication, and develop a more analytical approach to the game.
