Drawing on Geoffrey R. Stone’s landmark text, Sex and the Constitution, the presentation reviews the historical, religious, and legal evolution of state regulation over human sexuality. 
A overview from the secular intentions of the Founders and the moral repression of the Victorian era, to modern Supreme Court battles over obscenity, contraception, abortion, and LGBTQ+ rights, etc. will be the focus
Ultimately, the course confronts a fundamental question of American jurisprudence: How can a pluralistic society navigate constitutional law when restrictions on intimate behaviors are historically rooted in a single religious tradition?
