How Radio Astronomy Expanded Our Understanding of The Universe
Since the dawn of Humanity there has been a fascination with the "Heavens." For most of human history the only way the wonders of the sky could be observed was with our eyes. But in the 19th century, the unification of electricity and magnetism gave us the technology of radio. Suddenly, we had a powerful new tool to observe the universe. This powerful tool has greatly expanded our knowledge of the cosmos. We will be using the Teaching Company course "Radio Astronomy Observing the Invisible Universe" to learn how radio astronomy works and what it has taught us about the universe.
