Reconstruction- The Second American Revolution

The Civil War’s devastation necessitated a reconstruction of our nation. The effort was contentious, but it enhanced the Founders' vision "toward a more perfect union" closer to reality. Reconstruction was historically undermined by the Dunning School who supported the South's "lost cause." Today, scholars call it "the second American Revolution," since it enshrined the 13th, 14th, and 15th constitutional amendments.
