The Ship Called the Clotilda

In Alabama, as the Civil War began, a ship carrying over one hundred captive humans was smuggled into the United States from Africa. The remnants of this ship, the Clotilda, was recently recovered by archaeologists. Using archival and archaeological evidence, with oral histories from the descendants living in the area, this course tells the story of the last slave ship in America.
