Title: Understanding Trauma and PTSD

Instructor: Ralph LaPerche

Estimated Course Fee: Members: $3; Non-Members: $8

Course Description: (2-day class, 1.5 hrs each) Trauma is a fact of life. Sometimes people are traumatized by seemingly ordinary experiences. Most trauma and post trauma is not the result of combat though that is one form now universally recognized. Not all trauma results in post trauma that can, if unresolved, become a life sentence. PTSD is medically regarded as only a psychological disorder of the mind.
The latest discoveries have revealed the the body may be the primary home of the post trauma effects. Many of us have lived with someone who suffers from PTSD and all of us have encountered people who suffer PTSD {though we may be unaware of that}. I hope to dispel some common misunderstandings around PTSD and encourage the group to ask questions or share their experience so this time can be mutually enlightening.
