Alan Youngblood, 59, is the former Director of Photography for The Gainesville Sun, Gainesville Magazine and the Ocala Star-Banner in Ocala, Florida. In 2018 he was named Gatehouse Photographer of the year. He has 35 years of professional photojournalism experience, always behind the camera but for the last 20 years, managing photographers too.
He has covered stories in far away as war-torn Europe and his own back yard. His passion and specialty is water. Alan has bas been shooting underwater since being becoming a certified scuba diver in 1986.
Alan is currently freelancing on still and video projects and continues consulting on Macintosh computers, photography and workflow.
While Alan has an intense interest in the technical aspect of image gathering, he keeps in mind that the medium isn't the message. Content is still king.
Alan is married and lives with his wife Chris and Brittanys Piper, Tess the puppy, along with three horses, Flor, Blaze the Weather Horse and Tango the stunt pony in Southwest Marion County, Florida.
